How does payment work? Who pays whom, and when?

DAP/505 uses Stripe to manage payments. Promoters and/or hosts pay artists, and depending on how far ahead of the event the booking is confirmed, the total can be split into up to three installments: More than 60 days before the event: up to three installments, starting with 25% of the artist's fee (plus all agent and DAP/505 fees) on signing, another 25% 60 days before the event, and the remaining 50% 30 days before. Between 30 and 60 days before the event: two installments, starting with 50% of the artist's fee (plus all agent and DAP/505 fees) on signing, and the remaining 50% 30 days before the event. Less than 30 days before the event: the full amount is paid on signing. When a payment is split, the first installment is a deposit that goes directly to the artist. Everything else is held by DAP/505 and released to the artist about 2 days after the event. Artists must connect a bank account via Stripe to receive payments.

Can an Agent or Agency manage bookings on behalf of multiple DJs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Agents can negotiate and close bookings on behalf of the DJs they represent, once authorized to act on that artist's behalf.

Can one account hold multiple roles (e.g., a Promoter who also DJs, or an Agent who also runs a venue)?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Once you create your profile, you can add multiple roles to it and choose one as your main role. Profiles currently support four roles: DJ, for those who perform and have an artist brand. Agent, for representatives who book on behalf of multiple artists. Promoter / Crew, for party organizers and event-running teams. Hosts, for venue owners and staff working on an event.

What's the difference between an Event and a Booking on the platform?

An Event has a date, location, lineup, and multiple associated bookings, among other attributes. A Booking is a negotiation that leads to a signed contract for an artist to perform at an event. DAP/505 members can start multiple booking negotiations. Once a contract is signed, visitors to the event page can see the confirmed artists added to the lineup.

Who's responsible for the contract/rider details, and is that handled in-app or offline?

Accepted Answer

Both parties in a negotiation are responsible for riders. DJs define their booking preferences and technical riders directly on their profile, and these defaults speed up negotiation. Promoters and hosts booking that artist can accept or negotiate from those pre-set requirements.

Question 6

What fees does DAP/505 take, and who pays them: the Host, the Artist, or both?

Accepted Answer

During Beta, DAP/505 charges a flat platform fee per confirmed booking: €15 when the artist's fee is €999 or less, and €25 above that (with equivalent tiers in USD and GBP). When an artist applies to or is invited to perform at an event, the event page administrator (usually a promoter or host) is responsible for paying the full total, which bundles the artist's fee, the DAP/505 fee, applicable taxes, and any agent fee. The event creator sees this full cost breakdown before confirming the payment.

Question 7

What happens if a Promoter or Host doesn't pay after a completed event, and is there any recourse?

Accepted Answer

If a payment is missed or late, DAP/505 notifies the person responsible for payment. Artists can also send a reminder directly to the promoter or host. If the issue isn't resolved, artists can open a dispute. (See "How does payment work?" above for the installment schedule and deadlines.)
